SINTEF Energy Research has conducted a grid compliance test at VIVAs test station at Valsneset. The test was the first trial of a new mobile laboratory for grid compliance testing and was carried out in cooperation with TrønderEnergi and Enercon. The test involved an Enercon 2.3 MW turbine and showed good grid compliance qualities in the turbine.

NTNU has located a Leosphere Windcube Lidar at Valsneset test station. The Lidar will be used for wind condition research and to determine wind turbine power curves.

The Lidar is portable and can with small transport and installation requirements be utilized for field measurements at other locations.

SINTEF Energy has purchased a new mobile lab for grid compliance testing that is avaliable for testing of grid compliance of generators.

The grid code sets requirements to the ability of generators to ride-through certain voltage dips, though this influence wind turbine stability, structural loads and lifetime.

Blaaster Wind Technologies’  first prototype, the 3 MW unit Blaaster DL101, was installed on VIVA testcentre at Valsneset in Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, summer 2012.

The last weeks the prototype has been subject to ordinary commissioning procedures, and is now put into operation.

Stortingets energi- og miljøkomite var fredag 27. april på rundtur på Fosen og var innom VIVAs testsenter på Valsneset. Komiteen fikk en omvisning på området og fikk presentert betydningen av test og demonstrasjonsfasiliteter som et utviklingssteg mellom forskning og marked.

Olje og energiminister Ola Borten Moe benyttet kvinnedagen 8. mars til å besøke Valsneset sammen med jenter fra videregående skole for å vise frem mulighetene innen realfag og energisektoren.

Blaaster Wind Technologies will install their first prototype at Valsneset test center during 2012. Key features of the Blaaster turbines are road transportable direct-drive solution, low weight, low maintenance cost, tower heights up to 150m and state-of-the-art power electronics.

Valsneset:Innovatørene i Chapdrive bruker hydraulikk for å gjøre de enorme havmøllene mindre topptunge og lettere å drive. Nå bygger Chapdrive om en mølle på 900 kWh som skal testes ut på Valsneset i første halvår av 2009.

Through an agreement with TrønderEnergi Kraft AS, VIVA can offer use of TrønderEnergi Krafts facilities at Titran, Frøya, for test purposes. The site includes a 400kW wind turbine witch can be used for pilot scale testing of components.

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) runs a meteorological station for wind measuring at Titran. The station includes four meteorological masts, measurement equipment and a service building.

Oil companies has declared the Titran area especially good for measuring of undisturbed ocean wind. The Norsok-standard, which specifies the wind climate for design of offshore constructions, is based on measurements from this station.

Based on this, Titran is well suited for developing and testing technology for offshore wind turbines.

VIVA har sikret seg muligheten til å benytte TrønderEnergi Krafts anlegg på Titran på Frøya til testing av teknologi for vindturbiner. Anlegget består blant annet av en 400kW Vestas vindturbin som gir mulighet for skalatesting av teknologikomponenter for vindturbiner.
